
This year, we will be having a virtual commemoration of Know Your Canal Week from August 9 to 15, 2020. The Society of Friends of the Afro-Antillean Museum of Panama (SAMAAP) with the support of the National Secretariat for the Development of Afro-Panamanians (SENADAP), the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), the Ministry of Culture, the State Radio System and Television (SERTV) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) invite you to participate in the Know Your Canal Week to be held from Sunday, August 9 to Saturday, August 15, 2020. During the week of activities, different talks will be held digitally through the ZOOM platform and from its Facebook.com/Samaapanama page.

Lanzamiento del documental y conversatorio "Harrigan Austin y sus descendietes"
En la noche de hoy culminan las actividades de la semana Conozca su Canal, organizado por la Sociedad de Amigos del Museo Afroantillano con el apoyo del Ministerio de Cultura, SERTV – Sistema Estatal de Radio y Televisión, la Secretaría Nacional para el Desarrollo de los Afropanameños, la Alcaldía de Panamá y el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo. En este evento será lanzado el documental sobre la historia de Harrigan Austin y su descendientes, donde tendremos la oportunidad de viajar en el tiempo a través de una carta que escribió el Sr. Austin, un obrero afroantillano del Canal de Panamá, y cómo su tenacidad y resiliencia impactó a su descendencia y a todo un país hasta la actualidad.
