Know Your Canal Week (often referred to locally as Semana Conozca Su Canal or Semana del Canal) is an annual educational initiative celebrating the August 15th inauguration of the Panama Canal. It typically features historical tours, exhibits, and community events hosted by organizations like SAMAAP to honor the waterway’s legacy and recognize the contribution of men and women of African descent in its construction, or operation and in the development of Panamanian society.
